Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Simpler recycling legislation?
Simpler Recycling, which came into effect on March 31st 2025, requires businesses and relevant non-domestic premises with more than 10 Full Time Equivalent employees (FTE) in England to arrange for the collection of the core recyclable waste streams, with the exception of garden waste (glass, metal, plastic, paper and card, and food waste).
This will be applicable to all businesses regardless of size from March 31st, 2027 at Smiths News Recycle , our aim is to make compliance simple for our customers. We offer a Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) collection service where you can mix cardboard, paper, metal tins and cans, plastic bottles/tops, pots and tubs and drinks cartons. If you have large amount of cardboard, we also offer a separate collection.
If you want to learn more about Simpler Recycling, please visit the dedicated page on the Department for Environment & Rural Affair (DEFRA)’s website – here.
